Women’s Health

Cervical Smears
It is recommended that all women between the ages of 25 – 65 years of age have regular smear tests. The Primary Care Trust – on our behalf – operate a ‘call and recall system’ to remind you of this – so you will get a reminder letter from them every 3 years until the age of 50 and then every 5 years until you are 65 years of age.
You can make an appointment with the Practice Nurse for a cervical smear – the ‘ideal/best’ time for a cervical smear is mid way through your menstrual cycle. Do not make an appointment for a smear if you have your monthly period.

Please bring a urine sample with you for this appointment.

HRT
Our GPs undertakes the HRT checks and can prescribe your repeat prescriptions.

Family Planning
Family planning services are available at Slaidburn Health Centre either with the Doctor or Practice Nurse.
We are currently unable to offer either Coil or Contraceptive Implant Fittings.

If you prefer there is a clinic at Clitheroe Hospital on Wednesday  at evening 6.30pm-9.00pm. Please telephone Clitheroe Hospital on 01200 420660 to make an appointment there.
