Prescriptions
Slaidburn Country Practice runs its own dispensary where your prescription can be 'made up' immediately following on from your appointment either with the Doctor or Nurse. This service is NOT available to all those patients who live within 1 mile from a dispensing chemist.
We are not able to sell 'over the counter' items that you would find at a Chemist but are able to provide all those medicines prescribed by either the Doctor or Nurse.
Repeat Prescriptions can be ordered either by telephone, in person or electronically using a secure system. PLEASE CLICK ON TO 'REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS'
We ask that you give us 48 hours notice to prepare your repeat prescription for your collection - whichever way you request it.
You may be asked to see either the Doctor or Nurse before your repeat prescription can be re-issued - this is so that regular assessments are made of your condition and that the medicine prescribed is still the best one for you.
Collection of your medicine/s is 48hours after the request at any time between 8am - 5pm from Slaidburn Health Centre - apart from Wednesday afternoons when the dispensary closes at 12.30 for training and stock taking.
Payment for your prescription is either by cheque or cash - unfortunately we do not take payment cards. Please note that we cannot release your prescription to you unless we have payment.
If you have a pre payment certificate or are exempt from prescription charges you will have either a certificate or card to state this - please will you ensure that the surgery has a copy of your current certificate/card -it is the responsiblity of the patient to supply the surgery with a current copy.
Collection is also available from Dunsop Bridge Garage from Tuesday lunchtime, Bolton by Bowland shop and Chatburn Post Office from Friday morning.
Please note that you must inform the surgery that you wish to pick your medicines up from either of these sites and your medicines must have been either pre paid in cash, or you have a pre payment certificate or are entitled to free prescriptions - for either of the last two options you will have a certificate of exemption - and the surgery must have a copy. If the dispensary does not have a copy of a current exemption certificate then the medicines will not be sent.
Our dispenser is highly trained and available to answer any questions you may have concerning any issues about medicines - you only have to ask.
