Diabetes Awareness - www.diabetes.org.uk

A carer is someone who, without payment, provides help and support to a friend, neighbour or relative who could not manage otherwise because of frailty, illness or disability.

Most carers do not recognize themselves under this term - they feel they are just people trying to cope as best they can whilst helping to look after the person who needs their care.

We feel it is very important to offer those who are caring as much support as possible and therefore are very pleased that the Carer support services will be holding drop in clinics at the health centre as outlined below.

RIBBLE VALLEY CROSSROADS CARER SUPPORT

RVC promotes, offers, supports and delivers high quality services for carers and those with care needs by providing care in the home.

Advice about or a break from and /or support with caring for someone with mental health issues, physical health problems, difficulty getting around at home/to and from places or as a source of information about staying safe and warm or social group activities are just some of the areas that Crossroads can help with.  The service is offered/provided from 07.00 - 23.00hrs 365 days per year.

Crossroads will be available as a drop in service for advice/guidance at Slaidburn Health Centre on the first Tuesday morning of each month.

CARERS LINK

Carers Link run a variety of support groups which meet regularly in the Ribble Valley. The groups are designed to give carers a break from their responsibilities and a chance to meet other carers in similar circumstances and maybe offer or direct you toward help you were not aware was available to help you or the person you care for. Guest speakers come from all over the North of England who cover a wide range of interests and information. There are also taster sessions on subjects as diverse as colour therapy, reflexology, painting, numerology to name but a few.

Carers Link will be at Slaidburn Health Centre on the first Tuesday morning of each month.
